Sixth Form Life
Message from the Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Johnson
The vision and ethos of our sixth form is to be a community of academically aspirational young people who seize opportunities and develop into interested and interesting young adults of the future. Cobham Free School was founded in 2012, with the senior department opening in 2014, and the sixth form in 2019. The sixth form embraces the values which have been embedded across the school, with a vision for post-16 education that stretches and challenges its students and reflects the aims of the school motto, ‘Optimum Omnibus’, the Best for All.
The sixth form is such a special and enjoyable time in a young person’s education and it provides the bridge between school and university. We foster independence while giving our students enough freedom to flourish and enough support to thrive. Above all, our sixth form is a very happy environment where every individual is known, recognised, valued and supported in their endeavours, however big or small.
I very much look forward to welcoming our next Year 12 in 2024.
Sixth Form Life
In the sixth form, students study 3 or 4 A Levels as part of a traditional, academic curriculum, alongside an extension programme of complementary academic qualification options. Our approach enables the acquisition of the knowledge and skills to access top university courses and prepare for rewarding careers in the future. Students are encouraged to develop personal attributes in both leadership and collaboration, enhancing their ability to flourish as confident, considerate and independent young adults.
Students are taught in small class sizes by a strong team of specialist, highly qualified staff. We believe that this enables a focus on the individual which sets Cobham Free School apart from larger providers. Students in our sixth form are part of the Cobham Free School family, forging lifelong relationships in a very special, supportive and friendly environment.
We have the highest expectations and aspirations for our students. The sixth form is an environment where we encourage commitment to academic excellence and where everyone in the community has a belief in success and achievement for all.
