Intent Statement


Having the option to do Business  or Economics GCSE provides the students with the perfect opportunity to combine real life experience with their studies. The course aims to inspire students and give them the knowledge and understanding to thrive both academically and in the real world. The skills learnt during this course are sure to allow all students to excel in their chosen further studies or career pathways.


Syllabus


We follow the Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Business course and the OCR  GCSE (9-1) Economics course.


What is in the Business course?


Business GCSE introduces students to business concepts, terminology and objectives. Students will consider the impact of business on individuals and wider society. During the course, students will apply their knowledge and understanding to contemporary business issues and to different types and sizes of businesses in local, national and global contexts. We encourage students to think critically and creatively and to draw on evidence to make informed business decisions and solve business problems.

What is in the Economics course?


Economics GCSE introduces students to basic economic concepts and helps them to develop a range of analytical, critical and reasoning skills to enable them to think as economists. Students learn how consumers, producers and governments interact in markets nationally and internationally. We bring Economic theory to life in every lesson, encouraging students to keep up to date with current affairs, analysing and evaluating economic policy in the UK and in other economies around the world.

How is it assessed?


Both courses are assessed via 2 x 90 minute exams. 


Extra-curricular opportunities


Due to Covid-19 we have been unable to organise many trips in the past few years but we really look forward to organising a range of activities and trips in the coming years, to include a trip to Cadbury’s World!
