Music Award Scheme

Music Award Scheme - Reception, Year 7 and Year 12

(Closing dates from 30th September, please see application forms for more information)

Up to four students for Reception, five students for Year 7 and six students for Year 12 per year may be selected for a place at Cobham Free School under the Music Award Scheme. In addition to a normal Admissions Application Form, a Music Award Scheme Application Form must be completed to apply for the scheme.

Students may apply from any locality, as distance is not a determining factor in allocating places on the Award Scheme. As the award will be given to students showing musical potential, no previous instrumental tuition will be necessary in order to apply. However, eligible students should demonstrate a strong aptitude for music.

Candidates will be invited for an assessment which will include aural tests as part of the selection process. Assessments will take place before the closing date for applications to Surrey County Council (normally on or before 31st October for Year 7, and 15th January for Reception) or in the case of Year 12, applications to the school in December. Therefore, applications for the Music Award Scheme must be received by 30th September for Year 7, 15th November for Reception and  5th December for Year 12, to allow sufficient time for the assessment process.

Successful Music Award scholars will be expected to play a full part in the life of the Music Department for the whole time they are attending Cobham Free School.
