At CFS all students starting Year 7 are required to have a Chromebook for use in their lessons every day.
When purchasing a Chromebook from the school, it will come complete with the required license to use the school's Google Education system and you'll benefit from:
All relevant software and licenses included.
Automatic enrollment in the school online filtering system.
Three year warranty as standard.
Comprehensive insurance policy.
Option to purchase outright or spread the cost over three years.
To purchase a device from the school, please click on the link below and follow the instructions to set up an account.
Although Chromebooks are expected to last for the duration of the five years from Year 7-11, we are aware that sometimes this is not the case and faults do occur. The Chromebook is covered by a three year warranty, (on a sliding reducing scale based on the actual purchase date), as students move towards the end of Year 9 and into Years 10 and 11, this warranty will have expired.
In the instance that your child’s Chromebook no longer works, you can choose to contact the IT team on 1to1@cobhamfreeschool.org.uk to see if they are able to assist you in dealing with the issue and where necessary, return it to the Lenovo repair centre - if it is covered by the warranty or is an insurance claim. However, please be aware that the school does not accept liability if the Chromebook is unable to be fixed or if damage is done to the machine.
If it is not possible to repair the Chromebook, it will need to be replaced under the warranty, through the insurance or a new Chromebook will need to be purchased. Please contact the school on 1to1@cobhamfreeschool.org.uk so that we can investigate whether it is possible to transfer the Chromebook licence from the old device to the new one. However, this is dependent on Google’s terms and conditions and if it is not possible, a new licence will need to be purchased.
In the event that you need to make an insurance claim for your child’s Chromebook and you purchased it from us, please be advised that claims are likely to be rejected if the Chromebook has not been kept in accordance with the insurance requirements that provided at time of purchase. Please contact the school if you wish to make an insurance claim on the above email.
Please note that under the terms of the purchase agreement entered into, any direct debit scheme means that the device remains the property of Cobham Free School until the final direct debit payment has been made and all outstanding balances are cleared.
In the event that your child leaves the school and an outstanding balance remains on the account, the device must be either returned to the school or all balances cleared before the ownership transfers from the school and all controls and restrictions removed.
Please contact the school and ask about support, email 1to1@cobhamfreeschool.org.uk
Please read the information on the above link and follow the instructions to set up an account and make your purchase.
This is possible, however the school's Google Education licence and filtering system will need to be installed and the Chromebook will be locked down to only show CFS approved websites and apps. There will be a charge for the Google Education License. Please consider keeping your Chromebook as a separate device that is used at home.
You can purchase the Chromebook in one go or pay for it in 12/24/36 monthly instalments, just choose the package that suits you best.
Chromebooks are used by students every day and in most lessons.
When connected to the school network, devices are filtered to prevent access to harmful websites and social media platforms when in use at school.
It is the parent’s/carer’s responsibility to monitor their child’s internet usage outside of school. To support this, as part of our ongoing commitment to the safeguarding of our students, we have implemented a filtering system that is activated on your child’s device. This means that the websites and social media platforms that cannot be accessed in school will not be accessible on the device at home, whatever network is being used.
The purchase includes the Chromebook, a protective cover, insurance against theft and accidental damage, a three year warranty to replace the Chromebook if it is faulty and the Google Education Licence for the programmes that will be installed on it.
