Year 2

Year 2 marks the culmination of pupils’ time in the Lower Juniors and is an important stage in preparing them for the transition to the Upper Junior site. Pupils develop increasing confidence, independence and responsibility while strengthening their knowledge and skills across the curriculum. Year 2 also marks the beginning of pupils’ Spanish learning, introducing them to another language and culture from an early age. Assessment becomes increasingly formal towards the end of the year, including the use of government-issued SATs materials, helping teachers to track progress carefully and identify appropriate next steps for every pupil. Enrichment remains an important part of the Year 2 experience, with visits to Windsor Castle and Nower Wood, an African dance workshop and the much-loved Year 2 Show, which provides a joyful celebration of pupils’ creativity, confidence and achievements.
